Summary of Policy

Our objective with this policy is to balance the need of on-call engineering consultant services for small College projects with the need for a cost effective work-flow process and a more cost effective management and control of their use.

This policy establishes principles and guidelines for all engineering consultant projects under $50,000 that will allow us to realize the benefits of our sourcing leverage.

This guideline applies to all Dartmouth employees.

To facilitate best value to the College by providing a system of select pre-qualified firms, with established contract language, fully transparent established rates, risk avoidance, invoice requirements, and data reporting requirements.

Procedures

Process Requirements:

  1. All engineering projects less than $50,000 may use one of the approved engineering firms with no bid requirements.
  2. All engineering projects greater than $50,000 will follow standard Procurement Policy and will require bids and/or estimates from at least three firms.
