This program includes all aspects of a Permit-Required Confined Space (PRCS) Program as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.146, including: identification and classification of spaces, monitoring and evaluation, control of hazards, posting of spaces, training of employees, responsibilities and duties, emergency procedures, contractor requirements, and review of program.
The PRCS Program is developed to protect Dartmouth College employees and to inform contractors who are required to enter PRCS during their work.
The purpose of the program is to identify and create awareness of the various PRCS at Dartmouth. A complete understanding of PRCS hazard identification, evaluation, and control measures is required for employees and contractors who may enter PRCS.
The Program shall be used in conjunction with other Dartmouth Safety Programs. Associated safe work practices and programs include but are not limited to, personal protective equipment, the handling of hazardous materials, the isolation of energy sources, respiratory protection, and special work permits.
